Universal Self-loading Pistol
Its HK USP (Universal Self-loading Pistol) served as the basis of the so-called MK 23. It was initially designed to be used in use in the US market as an .40 S&W sidearm, the 9mm HK USP was introduced in 1993, along with it's .40 S&W version in 1993.
About two years after, HK released the larger .45 ACP variant. Although the pistol was initially designed to be used by US law enforcement as well as commercial purchasers, the USP gained significant popularity internationally. an alternative version that was a variant of this pistol called the P8 was created and made available by Germany's Bundeswehr. At the beginning serious shooters who used this HK USP touted its reliability light weight, soft shooting and an above-average trigger. 28 years after the HK USP is still living up to its promises.
We'd be hesitant to claim that it's one of the strongest handguns without evidence. The HK USP been around since 1993, but a few months ago it was shipped to the manufacturing facility for repair after being reported to have more than 200,000 rounds fired through it. Do you doubt us?

For those 200,892 rounds springs weren't replacedand there was none of the recoil springs were replaced, nor trigger return springs or anything else.

I don't know the number of rounds fired, but I've never counted, however, hundreds of rounds have been fired at SWAT Training and Quarterly qualification. The parts are never replaced , and there has never been a malfunction."
What is it that makes the HK USP so robust?
The HK USP performs very similar with similar to Browning Hi-Power and 1911 pistols. When the pistol is fired by blowback, it causes the slide to move backwards, which then tilts the barrel assembly upwards as well as unlocking the barrel. The blowback mechanism has been tested for years and is utilized in the majority of modern centerfire pistols.
The latest USP barrels made after 1996, feature polygonal rifling that is similar to what you'll find on Glocks barrels. For those unfamiliar with this kind of barrel, they include a variety of flats that are cut into them, which spiral within the bore. The flats "grip" on the gun when it leaves the barrel instead of cutting the bullet like is typical in the traditional land-and-groove rifling.

Where can you purchase an Hong USP
The current offerings include standard model chambered 9mm .40 S&W and .45 ACP, using barrels that are in between the 4.25 up to 4.41-inch range as well as USP Compacts with the same calibers usually feature barrels and slides that are a quarter of an inch shorter than average.
