HK MR762A1 Review

Moderation has not been my style. For most things in my life I go all-out or I don't start my car. This is among my 4.2 million reasons I have stopped drinking. One drink could turn into someone asking "Who is this person, where are your pants? And what is the reason you are in my home? ".

It is no surprise that when I made the decision to purchase an ultra-modern semi-auto 7.62 rifle, this and being an H&K lover, pushed me to purchase H&K's MR762A1. H&K MR762A1.

The Heckler and Koch The MR762A1 model is the US civilian version of the HK 417 rifle chambered in 7.62x51mm. If you look at it, it is clear that it's part of the AR family of rifles. The difference between the MR762A1 and other ARs (besides the massive magazine that is made by a company called proprietary) is its operating platform. The MR employs a shorter stroke gas piston, as opposed to an impingement direct gas system that is used in the majority of rifles in the AR family. The advantage of gas pistons operating systems is mostly the cleanness of the weapon since the gasses exit through the forearms of the rifle instead of being emitted into the receiver as is the case with a traditional Direct Impingement AR. The proponents of this method claim that this improves the reliability of the guns system. It is important to note, however that the previous two AR's I've assembled which use Direct Impingement Operating Systems are completely reliable, even without cleaning. We will determine what the major difference between the MR is after it has certain rounds and it's cleaned. Let's take a closer look at this thing in its parts and pieces

HK MR762A1



The H&K MR762A1 is broken down to the point that it is necessary for regular maintenance and cleaning.

The disassembly process of MR is the same as the process of disassembling a conventional AR however, there is a slight difference the takedown pins not the same as those found on an ordinary AR. The takedown pins of MR rifles require an instrument that is kept inside the buttstock to take the rifle apart. The tool for taking down comprises an allen wrench, with a tit that you use to press the middle, spring loaded part of the takedown pins as you push them across the left and right. It is believed that this creates an even tighter lower and upper receiver mating. It is an issue in the groin.


The buttstock is comfortable and is adjustable to five different positions. By turning this buttpad counter-clockwise and then pulling it toward the user, it will fall off, revealing the tool for taking down, as well as some space for storage where you can store the batteries and spare pieces or even your cannabis. For me, this buttstock recalls that B5 SOPMOD Stock.


Lower receivers are constructed out of forged aluminum and is equipped with a few features that are exclusive with it. MR and its rifle parent.


The lower receiver comes with an ambidextrous safety that comes from the factory. One feature of the safety of these H&K MR rifles together with the 417's parent they can be put on them on a safe by putting your hammer down. Evidently, this was a request from the user's perspective who wanted to protect themselves, and so H&K introduced it all over the world.


Its magazine release can be described as circular and large enough to be manipulated and protect against accidental release

If you look at the insides of the receiver's lower part there is a difference. The sheetmetal component that is stamped behind the disconnector is often referred to by the name of "bridge". The bridge is placed on the back of the disconnector in order to prevent the hammer from striking the disconnector and damaging it. Another difference is the groove that you observe in the middle of your hammer. This is to protect the safety of the firing pin, which we'll discuss in a moment.

The buffer is secured by a square-shaped buffer retaining pin an additional departure from traditional AR design. The shape of the buffer is slightly differently than an ordinary AR buffer, and roughly similar in size to the 5.56 carbine buffer that is found in the traditional AR.

Another thing to note at the bottom of the rifle is the magazines used by the gun. They are massive and are exclusive for the MR762 as well as HK 417 platforms. They are made of translucent polymer that is similar to the H&K G36, and feel extremely robust. This is among the major reasons for contention for many people in the case of the MR762. Everybody would like their .308's to utilize SR-25/DPMS magazines since they're cheap and abundant. The MSRP for MR762 magazines are $59.99 that's about three times the price of Magpul LR-308 that you can use in the majority of .308 AR's. Personally, I'd prefer to get something designed specifically for this weapon instead of sticking to what everybody else is using. It's similar to deciding to meet women of a different type after you observe an underlying pattern of your shit breaking and you wake up to find them with the weapon in front of you. Sometimes it's time to make an upgrade, but it comes with the cost of. (Hopefully they didn't damage something irreparable or hurt you in the back, but that's a shitsucks).

The upper receiver is visually pretty typical AR appearing. The top rail, however, is slightly higher than an ordinary AR. Deflector made of brass is noticeable and the door to the ejection port is constructed of polymer.


On the top of the receiver,, where the gas pipe is usually there is a bushing made of steel to support the rod that operates the piston gas system.

The barrel nut itself is massive. It measures about 3 inches long in total. Two grooves visible inside are used to mount the handguard, which is similar to the way you mount the rail of a Geissele rail.


The barrel itself measures 16.5" long, with an 1:11 right hand twist. The barrel's profile is very heavy as per my measurements, it measures .940" between the barrel's nuts up to the gas block, and .740" between the back of the gas block up to the muzzle. The barrel is cold made using hammer forging, and has the tapered bore, which is smaller as you get closer to the muzzle. A further thing to note is that the barrel isn't chrome lined. H&K states that they do this because it's more precise and, since they are using a superior grade in barrel steel this chrome lining isn't needed. It's no surprise that this has brought about an abundance of complaints in those in the AR community, as they claim "Go Chrome or Go Home". The barrel is identified on the left with MR and the caliber as well as the H&K USA proof (the little NH proof). The barrel's top in between the barrel's nut as well as the gas block is marked with letters and numbers that are electropencilled, and similar to markings made to those in Germany during the 1940's early on.

The gas block is inside the piston, and also has a mounting spot in the front to accommodate the front sight, which folds up and can be used. With the handguard the MR762's ship with the gas block is beneath the handguard.

This suppressor for flash is identical to the one it is in the G3. The muzzle has a threaded 15x1 This allows you to find muzzle brakes and other attachments quite enjoyable!

We now get to the core of the MR762 and what makes it stand out from other models. There are many AR enthusiasts absolutely hate gas piston operating systems that are part of their AR platform. They've been referred to as "Tranny AR's" because the inside components are located on the outside. Personally, it's not a factor to me so long as it functions. The advantages that come from the use of gas pistons are the bolt and receiver being cleaner, more hygienic and more reliable because of the factors mentioned above. Some critics of the system claim it's not needed is a waste of time, and also adds unnecessary parts that aren't required and can reduce the precision of the weapon because of the mass of the reciprocating mechanism over the barrel. When we have some time at the range, we'll discover how accurate these issues are.


The operating system for the gas piston is an evolution of the AR-18 design. It is an asymmetrical piston, which means that the piston travels after a short distance, and then it hits an operating rod that then pushes forward on the anvil of a bolt carrier, thereby unlocking as well as cycling through the bolt group. The advantages of this method in comparison to direct impingement are that that the gas is vented from the forearm instead of the receiver. H&K has used this method since G36 in the mid 1990'sand then was able to transfer it into H&K 416. H&K 416 as well as 417. The piston is chromed and has three gas rings to ensure an excellent seal.

If you look at the back on the rear of the bolt carriage you'll see a tiny lever chagadero. If you believe piston AR's can be tranny, like those who are purists, this could be like being a weiner for an innocent girl. We're all aware that girls don't wear weiners.

If you've been paying at all the diatribe of fucking, you might be aware of the groove inside the hammer I mentioned is the one that activates the safety for the firing pin. The moment the hammer stops the lever, it is pulled up by the groove, which allows that firing pin move forward. The benefit of the safety of firing pins is that you can employ match primers without worrying about the possibility of slam fires. While I've not had this happen however, it is possible to. It's like Godzilla emerging from the ocean and demolishing Tokyo. It's possible to happen.

The gas key in a traditional AR it is the anvil for the op rod press against. Contrary to some of the less expensive or even half-assed piston conversions that are available the anvil is fabricated to form the bolt group by itself from the wizarding elves from Oberndorf, Germany.


In the same place that the cotter pin would be located on an AR bolt carriage, you can find an encased pin. In reality, this is quite cool because it's an additional piece of equipment to not loseor to have on your Chinchilla steel while you take removed him and are cleaning up you gun room. On the top of the bolt's carrier there is a hole at back of the bolt. We are now going to the theory behind this. This is a feature in particular H&K 416 as well as 417's that are referred to as "Over the Beach". This permits water to be drained from the bolt carrier in order to let you shoot the weapon when you exit the water. The combination of three drainage holes on the back on the buffer tube a rivet that help support the extractor, and an chamfer blade in the barrel's face, allows for the firearm to be fired from the water without damaging it by blowing it up. But, as of 2319, Wednesday February 8, I had not yet taken photos from the 3 holes on the back of the tube that is used for buffering. This is probably the most simple task to complete and when I stop writing now, I'll probably become distracted by something and forget to be able to finish this. Be assured this shit exists. HOWEVER!!! However, the H&K MR762A1 isn't advertised, nor can I find any information about the fact that it is recognized to be "OTB" in H&K or any other source via the web. This means that if you're having a bath using your MR762A1 and ninjas attempt to gain entry into your home and you shoot the MR after getting out of the bath it could explode the weapon, and possibly yourself up. This is not advised.

This bolt's head has been polished as well as proofed and marked using serial numbers. Two features distinguish this bolt head from the typical AR bolt head. The first is that it comes with dual ejectors. This is something several manufacturers have been doing in .308 AR's in order to ensure proper release. Additionally, there are two holes in the back on the rod head. My belief is that this helps to drain the water from the bolt. I've been wrong once or twice.
This pin fairly typical as far as cam pins go. I will spare the time with the details.
It is worth noting that while shooting photos using the Sony A6000, the camera believed that the top of the head bolt was actually a face because of the dual ejectors and it changed to portrait mode. The result was a funny laughter when I looked at the images. It looks like the head of a happy bolt however :).

The firing pin is different since it is equipped with an safety feature for the firing pin. The firing pin also comes with springs, which prevent that firing pin away from striking it until the first hammer strikes it.
Its feedramp for the barrel looks attractive and well-known. It's no doubt that this barrel should be feeding ammunition similar to Jenna Jameson take dick. (Don't have a clue who Jenna Jameson is? Search her on Google. But not at work.)
In my previous post, I discussed earlier about the "Over the Beach" features. Based on what I've found online (and everything that is said on the internet is accurate as per Abraham Lincoln), one of the features of the OTB ability is a chamfer on barrel's surface to allow water to exit out of the chamber, as well as an edging to support the extractor, so that it will not blow out when venting. It is possible that I am not a surgeon of the highest caliber but it appears to be a ring to help support the extractor, as well as an chamfer on the barrel's face.

This charging grip is fairly normal. It has a large latch so that you can charge the weapon even if there is a scope mounted on it.

The last but not least of all will be the forearm. The forearm is constructed of aluminum, with a continuous top rail and a free floating. It is covered with the form of dickmod ....errr it's actually "HKey" which is reversed dickmod. Why? Really, you should just be M-Lok just like the rest of the world that is civilized. It has two rail pieces that is movable to place all of your gadgets and other accessories. For me, I mostly simply put a bipod onto the rail. On the back of the handguard is a QD socket the opposite side to use with an Sling.

FIRST Impressions


It's a hefty piece of equipment. It definitely has a bulk, but it's sturdy. It's like a woman who is able to pull double her body weight performing deadlifts. The rifle is solid in the most perfect of ways. It also provides me with an intimate erection. According to the specs the rifle weighs less than 10 pounds. It's clear that it's not as agile as an AR15 but it's fairly similar with other .308 AR's that are available with the exception of the DD5. This gun is fairly evenly dispersed, which means that the gun can be easily lowered, and is able to swing well.


The fit and finish are amazing, and there are no aesthetic imperfections of any kind I could detect. When you buy a firearm that is this expensive it is to be expected. Let's face it that it's H&K and of course it's well-fit and quality.


This trigger has a two-stage affair, and it breaks at around 5 pounds. The first and second stage are about equal in pull length, with the second stage being much longer than I am used to, as I am now used to Geissele triggers.


The top rail that is continuous on the MR762 permits the user to attach a range of lights, optics the laser, sexual toys and even widgets. Contrary to many rifles that have flat tops, the MR762 includes a set of Troy Micro back up iron sights. It's a great option, and they are high-quality websites.
