Overview
Let's face it. Glock is famous because it performs. Very
well I would add. Since its introduction in 1994, in 1994, the Glock 26 has
arguably been the most sought-after conceal carry firearm ever created. To
date, it's my personal choice in concealed carry. It's incredibly versatile,
whether being a straightforward "grab the item and walk away" option
to an "all everyday carry" solution.
The reason I am writing this article isn't to give an
exhaustive critique and review of the G26 "Baby Glock" however, it is
simply my opinion of the gun as an uninvolved carry self-defense perspective of
firearm.
The most important considerations when choosing a concealed
carry gun is size capacity, caliber and size. Its Glock 26 Gen 4 is an
excellent mix of all three characteristics. My recommendation is to pick the
gun with the least overall size that is not limiting the ammunition capacity,
and also shoots an extremely lethal self-defense shot. It's the Glock 26, which
Glock 26 fits the bill for me, and might be the best option too.
G26 Concealed carry length Glock 26 Dimensions: The overall
length of the G26 is 6.49 inches. It is incredibly simple to conceal and a
pleasant to shoot a concealed carry gun.
The thickness of the width range is 1.18 inches. The most
important aspect to me is height. It is 4.17 inches.
Its height has been the primary and most important factor that determines me when deciding on a gun to carry concealed. Height is the distance from the floor of the magazine up to at the very top of rear sights. This is a crucial factor when evaluating the firearm you carry. It's this measurement that is the most prominent part of a gun in the most well-known concealed carry positions like inside the waistband or appendix IIWB carry. Even the top IWB conceal carry bags such as those made by FusionPac made by TactiPac are not able to stop printing of the gun's handle, which is too long to be concealed.
There isn't a greater irritation for me than seeing the new
"slimmed into nothing" guns for concealed carry which are just as
large as a full or compact size firearm.
Personally, I see no need to cut the gun's width to less
than an inch however, I would suggest raising it's overall width by one inch or
more for the capacity of one round. The G26 has a 10- round magazine capacity,
and one chamber. Personally, I'm going to deal with the additional 2/10ths of
an inch thick for 5 extra rounds that are 9mm.
When we talk about dimensions, I'd also want to point out it is that G26 weighs around 22 ounces without load. When you add ammo, you'll gain an additional 4 ounces regardless of the type of self-defense ammunition you pick.
Glock 26 Capacity:
The standard Glock 26 magazine holds 10
rounds of 9mm. Optional magazines are available in 15-17 and 33 round
capacities.
When we talk about magazines' capacity, I'll use this
opportunity to highlight the interchangeability in Glock magazines (many other
brands also do this). I also have Glock 19 Gen 4. Glock 19 Gen 4 along with
magazines are compatible with the subcompact 9mm G26 too. I don't have spare
G26 magazines with me when I carry my G26. I keep 15 rounds of G19 magazines in
my pockets or in the waistband.
After I've mentioned capacity and size Let's discuss the
calibre that comes with Glock 26. Glock 26 concealed carry sub-compact pistol.
Glock 26 Caliber:
The Glock 26 is chambered in 9mm. Why
should I pick 9mm rather than a bigger calibre? I have owned and compared the
contemporary .45 as well as .40 calibers, and it could be a lengthy discussion.
However, I'll offer you a few reasons that will help you select 9mm over the
larger calibers to defend yourself.
First magazines can hold more 9mms than the larger calibers.
secondly the 9mm round is less recoiling than either .40 or .45. Therefore, the
guns have more ammo and are less likely to recoil but what about lethalness?
Thirdly and according to my limited knowledge of ballistics, the latest
self-defense round technology allows 9mm to perform as well as larger calibers,
which is why for the overall efficiency in terms of size, capacity, and
caliber, why don't you carry 9mm? This is my opinion on the issue, but clearly,
this is a choice you must make.
Now having observed what I consider as the top three
crucial elements to consider when looking at this Glock 26 as a concealed carry
gun, I'd suggest some additional aspects you should take into consideration
before making a purchase.
The main selling points for me aside from the size, capacity
and caliber is the versatility. Glock is popular, extremely popular and due to
this, the market for accessories for firearms is overflowing with Glock
compatible equipment and accessories. If you're in need of it, there's a buyer
for an Glock 26. Actually when I first launched TactiPac several years ago,
Glock became the firearm (and remains so) that my customers most demanded.
I am a fan of Glock for their simplicity, versatility as
well as their proven reliability and overall value. But, the only aspect I
personally do not like about Glock is the stock sights they offer. Many people
are in love with Glock sight sights. I do not.
I personally like Trijicon night sights because of the
following reason. I like a 3 dot alignment of the sight as in contrast to that
of the front dots and the rear channel sight alignment. I also like being in a
position to quickly access my sights in darkness as well. Trijicon night sights
permit me to do this easily, even in the darkest of situations. Therefore, the
only thing I take from the factory for my Glock pistols is those sights.
While this isn't an exhaustive look at Glock 26, Glock 26,
there are certain additional features worth noting when considering this gun as
a main choice for concealed carry. The G26 features an adjustable back strap
system. The design of the back strap is modular and lets you immediately
customize the grip to fit your personal hand size.
The new Glock that is part of the Gen 4 has a
revamped grip texture. The textured surface of the G26 frame features the brand
new "real world-tested" rough texture. It is, in my opinion,
sufficient however it is not overly aggressive. It is possible to hold and
shoot it for the rest of the day should you need to.
The G26 Gen 4 is also equipped with a reversible,
larger magazine catch that is easily reversible to accommodate right or
left-handed shooters.
Then we have Gen 4 G26 finally Gen 4 G26 has an
upgraded recoil spring. The new Glock dual recoil spring assembly significantly
extends the lifespan of operating systems. Glock was once able to last a life
time, but it's now increased by a whopping 50. It's a shame that we have only
one life left.
In my search for a powerful and safe concealed carry
handgun, this Glock 26 is the highest on my list. It is the best combination of
size, capacity , and calibre that is unmatched in the market.
A single of the best things I could say about this
small "Baby Glock" is the value. The price point for this powerful
and compact concealed carry weapon is between $500.00 up to $550.00 retail. An
official and Glock Shooting Sports discount can bring the cost down to $399.00
. This Glock 26 is an exceptional value that is extremely difficult to beat.
With Glock's flexibility simple design, and renowned reliability, it puts this
machine on my top list. I'm not sure that will change anytime soon However, you
never know.
