Overview:
It took me a long while to convince me to purchase an Glock. There was no significant reason, I've never been an Glock hater or anything similar. I simply preferred firearms that fired with hammers and Glocks have always appeared boring. It's true that the Honda Civic of handguns is difficult to get enthusiastic about. However, when Gen 4 MOS models came out, Gen 4 MOS models came to my attention, my ears swelled up. A gun that is able to mount multiple optics using simple plate swaps? I'm in. It's a Glock. Glock 17 Gen 4 MOS was my very first Glock and I'm now able to join the other gun writers in announcing a review.
Modular Optics System Modular Optics System
It was the MOS also known as Modular optics System was a major leap forward for handguns. Before this, you needed to shell out a significant amount of cash to have an instrument cut for the specific optic. Glock MOS System Glock MOS System allowed you to install four distinct plates which could fit an array of scopes' footprints. From the cheaper Burris Fastfire to the Legendary Trijicon RMR.
I have two miniature optics for a the mm Glock as well as one is a Meopta Meosight 3 and a Burris Fast fire 3. This Fast fire 3 is the current optic that is mounted on the gun, and is currently going through its own testing and review procedure. Mounting optics is simple and requires only a couple of screws, and then a switch on the plate to accommodate various optics.

The Glock is a good tool and the ergos don't hurt either. The slide release and magazine lock are in a convenient place. Many people say that the side lock of the Glock isn't big enough, but I use a slingshot to bypass slide lock every time I have to reloading. A tiny slide isn't an issue to me. The only place the Glock does not perform is in the grip and the squeezed finger grooves.
I am a huge fan of finger grooves, and I'm happy that Gen 5
has Gen 5 got rid of these. Gen 4's come equipped with interchangeable
backstraps however I don't like them. Also included are three 17 round
magazines if reside in a state that is free.
On the Range using the Glock 17
It's a great gun. Glock 17 runs like a champion. The
included sights are a pain and were off-center when I got the gun. They were
hanging just about from the right part of the Glock. It's a good thing that the
Glock 17 is an optics ready gun. I am planning to test it as an optics ready
gun.
It is the Glock series is famous because of their
dependability. The Glock model in question is no exception. It devours
everything I throw to it or through. From the cheapest metal Eastern European
junk ammo to premium defensive 124 JHP +P rounds. It will eat it all round
after round after round. It's never choked and am not sure it will ever. From
the gun shop to today, I've never done any cleaning or lubrication of the gun.
I simply punish it.
The full-size grip of the gun makes it extremely controllable, and the grip's angle is frequently criticized but I've never experienced it uncomfortable. It is true that in the case of having a good high grip, I do feel a little slide bite. I have big hands and use size 2XL gloves, so this could be the reason but it's remains a problem.
It's also difficult to evaluate because it's dependent on shooters. A few guns are unnaturally inaccurate, and a great shot can create an Hi-Point sound. It's reliable and, when you add it's red dots, the accuracy is improved considerably. At 50 yards, I could be able to ring a steel popper and not only continuously, but also quickly. When you have zeroed your dot, it's as simple as placing your red dots on the object and pulling the trigger.
The red dot's optic allows you to be precise, quick as well as accurate... when you've gotten comfortable with it. The use of a red dot optic is different than iron sights, but ultimately , it's more effective according to me. Iron sights are fantastic and everybody should be aware of the best way to utilize them however, the red dot is the only way to go. Once you know how to spot the dot , you'll be able to see the distinction.
The Glock trigger can be described as an average trigger.
It's not terrible, but it's not perfect, but it's reliable and functional. It's
not perfect, but it has some grit and creep, but has a slight unevenness. The
reset is fantastic and is both audible as well as tactile. You can feel it on your
fingers and it's a great quick reset, without a doubt. However, I did switch
the trigger after the addition of an optic. I chose an Suarez International
trigger, with the flat-faced metal trigger shoe and refined OEM connector. I
also included to the Suarez NPE firing pin to smooth the trigger further.
